Vista Startup Freeze

August 17, 2009 at 21:19:27
Specs: Windows XP
I've checked all the posts and still no resolution. Laptop with Vista Home Premium was working fine. Today it freezes right before the login page. No matter what I do (Fn when powering up, etc) ... nothing. For some reason it doesn't even give me an earlier date to restore to..nothing.

Any ideas? If I could only dump the files onto my external drive I'd be happy, but I can't get it to do anything.

Help please!

Well you might need to use System repair solution with your Os cd installer that been used on that computer.

The OS came installed on the computer, so I have no disks... I do have a new retail Vista Home Premium, but if I understand properly...if I try to install this one it will totally wipe out everything on my system... right?

I'm really frustrated...I thought my system was setting restore points...and I kept saving my work...but if I can't access it, I'm really messed up!
