Vista physical memory always high

December 20, 2009 at 21:01:44
Specs: Windows Vista
My Physical memory is always 45% or higher no
matter what programs I am running or not running.
Even at startup after I have exited out of all running
programs it remains at least 45%. I'm only running
65 processes at the moment with only 2-3% CPU
usuage.

Only two of my processes are at 30,000k+
memory usuage right now so what the hell? I have
tried registry cleaners. I have ran reliable virus
scanners such as malwarebytes and mcafee, along
with a full windows defender scan which only found
1 trojan after scanning almost 1million files.

Guys I've even done a system restore more then
once. This computer is only a few years old so I
think maybe I accidentally clicked on a wrong
setting or somethen, rather then it being the
computer.

I'm pretty sure it's not the computer because just
yesterday I could run all my favorite programs while
still having free physical memory to spare, now I'm
only running my browser and I almost have none
left. It's between 7-9 free MB of physical memory
now.

Please help me out as I can't play any of my
games now untill it goes back to normal!

To the OP, are you sure one of the sticks of ram hasn't failed so you actually have less ram installed than you thought you had?

Windows doesn't warn you when a stick of ram goes south. Check the figure being reported in Control Panel >> System
