Hoping someone can help. I have a Gateway Vista - 2-3 years old. Just had computer fixed because monitor showed just black screen. Tech fixed corrupted video card but screen is *still* black. Nothing but the Gateway logo appears, and I *hear* the loading data (bells for entering my password), but screen stays black. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?
Hold the FN key and press the F4 Function key once or twice until you see something on your screen. He may left your computer running on the external monitor connector you have to toggle it back. If that does not work then FN key and press the F4 once you turn the computer on until you get the Gateway Screen then hold F8 (no FN) until you get the Windows Bootup menu. Then select Safe Mode and once it boots reset your monitor resolution to 800x600.
Thanks for your reply. I tried this, and the screen stays black after the GATEWAY logo.
