Vista hung up at welcome screen.

September 10, 2011 at 19:58:10
Specs: Windows Vista
I have an HP TouchSmart with vista home premium. I can start up in safe mode without trouble. When I attempt a system restore I receive an error 0x400110020000100A. The last time I was able to login it was taking between 30 minutes and an hour just to load an application. Any help would be appreciated.

... what happens if you tap the <F9> <key>?

... what happens if you tap the <F11> <key>?

... tap the <key> as it starts up.

Log onto your computer in safe mode.

go to start, then type msconfig.
The system configuration panel will open.
on the general tab click "selective start" and untick "load startup items"

Reboot your computer.

... worth a try [enter] your bios and load the default settings (save settings on exit of bios) then boot into safemode and run Check Disk-chkdsk for next startup reboot.

In the BIOS there should be an option to check the hard drive. It is called the S.M.A.R.T test. If S.M.A.R.T is enabled it should test on post and if the drive is bad you should get an error but S.M.A.R.T could be disabled.

Just because the OP does not come back in 3 or 4 days to reply, does not mean he will not come back and reply.
