vista event viewer not logging events

April 3, 2011 at 11:01:42
Specs: Windows Vista, Intel Quad Core Q6700 2.66 Hz
I am having trouble with system hangs. I want to check the Event Viewer to see if a report can help define the problem. Though the system is logging events in the "Custom Views" and "Windows Logs" folders, nothing appears in the group under "Application and Service Logs".

Help in turning on logging, especially for hardware events, would be appreciated.

Thanks
Paul

Thanks for this, but there's nothing for me to see as there are no logs being recorded.

... sorry I thought perhaps you may of worked out a way to enable it.

... "Working with Filtering and Custom Views" (?)

... try this:
[press] the Win <flag> <key> (type) cmd [press] <Ctrl>+<Shift> [press enter] then <Alt>+<C> to confirm the elevation prompt.

... in the command prompt (type) sc config Eventlog start= auto [press enter]

... suggest you now reboot/restart the pc
