virus killed my display driver

Specs: Windows Vista
I got the Vista Security 2010 virus on my laptop and it ended up disabling almost everything. As it is now it will power on, but just shows a black screen. I am trying to just reformat everything, but I cannot seem to do this blindly, and I cannot get another display (my tv) to show anything either.

Is there any way that I can reformat and get rid of the virus at this point? thanks

When you 1st start the laptop, does the HP splash screen come up on the display? If not, the virus has nothing to do with have a hardware problem.

If you boot to the DVD-ROM drive, you see everything on the screen. You can format and you can re-install Windows. There is no link between Windows virus and booting to Windows DVD disk. If you have a BIOS virus, I think you can clear CMOS and try to update BIOS.
