Very slow; can preview Comcast e-mail can't open/write/send

Specs: Windows Vista, 2 GB
Gateway M-6332 laptop, Intel pent dual core, 2 GB ram, 32 bit OS; Vista sp2; IE 9. Has been running slow for a few months.
Last week could no longer open e-mail from my internet provider, Comcast. Can preview inbox but cannot get the mailbox to open, it just keeps looking w/out giving any errors. It will search 4ever!! Pictures take 4ever to open & videos won't run - acts like it will but never does. Games won't run.
Comcast worked on it for most of a day - via Xfinity Signature Support but never found any virus. I ran Win defender, an hr+ later it said PC working normal... NOT! I've run Norton & MS Fix It. Ran Belarc Advisor. Nothing shows up.
Tonight I tried turning off add-ons - no improvements. When I tried to turn add-ons back on, there are two that won't let me enable:
1) Groove GFS Browser Helper 2) Groove Folder Sychronization

I've spent several days trying to figure out but am at my wits end!

It sounds like your laptop might be heavily cluttered and probably infected with something..

I have a few things below that will greatly help.. come back and let me know how things are working!

- Get rid of Norton and download AVG For Free 2012 (update the program and run the system scan)
- Go to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disc Cleanup, run that for the whole machine.
- Click the Start button and in the command space, type in msconfig
There is a tab there that says Startup, uncheck all the un-necessary programs that start with your computer (Adobe Reader, ARM, Office, etc.. if your unsure about something, leave it). Restart afterwards.
- Go back to and download Spybot - Search and Destroy and run it and see what it finds.
