Solved Verizon account locked due to too many failed login attempts

I attempted to log in to my Verizon web mail account. I get a page saying my account has been locked due to too many failed login attempts. It asks me to enter my home phone number to get a temporary identification code. Is this a scam? Thanks.

I have since resolved the issue with Verizon Tech Support. Apparently, some 2000+ customer email accounts were compromised. The technician suggested I change my password. I did and everything is OK now. Thanks.

I haven't had any failed login attempts recently. Could this be related to that Russian hacker incident which happened a couple weeks ago?

Actually, num lock is on but it doesn't matter because I use the numbers on top of the keyboard anyway. I opened Notepad and tryed typing numbers with the top of the keyboard with num lock on. I was able to type the password correctly. I hardly use the number pad for passwords. I only use the number pad if I'm using the calculator. Anyway, in my case, I don't think it matters wheter num lock is on or off since I use the numbers at the top of the keyboard when entering passwords. Correct?

"I haven't had any failed login attempts recently"

Maybe YOU haven't, but that doesn't mean someone else hasn't tried to log-on to your account.

Check the address at the top of IE (or whatever browser you use) and make sure it is the genuine Verizon web mail address.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
