User Access Control?

Specs: WinXP, 1.5Ghz, 256MB
I am new to Vista. I just installed a few days ago and User Access Control keeps alerting me to things that Windows wants to install. One is Internet Explorer Add on for Abode Flash. I accepted that. The other is Windows installer for 64-bit. I denied that. Are these legitimate? How many of these can one expect? Thanks.

Anything you load better be legitimate. At any rate, the prompt you are getting is to ensure that they are.

Can you ensure legitimacy by the Microsoft catalog number listed in the prompt? Its a long, what looks like hexidecimal, number and the publisher is Microsoft. These are coming up wheter or not attached to the internet. You can see certificate if you want...so far it says the digital signature(s) are OK.

If it is from M$, it is legitimate. As far as how many to expect, I can't answer that, since this is something that will happen from time to time as long as you continue to use the machine.
