What Win 7 Upgrade package did you buy? You have Vista Home Premium which tells me that you need Windows 7 Home premium Upgrade disk. If you have any other upgrade disk then windows will tell you that it cannot complete the upgrade. The reason is simply that it is a downgrade and that does not happen in the world of Microsoft.

Vista Home Premium=Windows 7 Home premium upgrade
Vista Business PC=Windows 7 Professional upgrade
Vista Ultimate=Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade

This should give you a guide as to which upgrade disk to purchase in relation to what you already have on your machine.

W7 home premium will install on all Vista op systems if it is Vista Home Premium or higher. It will install in Ultimate, but it will only be Windows 7 Home premium. To keep Ultimate, you must buy W7 Ultimate. W7 Home premium will not install in Vista Basic, or so I'm told. PJ

I've got the same issue just a couple of days ago, upgrading is fine but the icons on the unclickable every now and then...just get back to Vista and then do a clean installation of Win 7, it works just perfectly.
Thank god i backup my computer just before the upgrading or what a pain it will be... BTW, i use Easeus todo backup http://www.todo-backup.com/ perfect freebie for collecting and backup is really nessary when you're doing upgrade...
