Trying to bypass safe mode in vista

March 16, 2011 at 19:29:11
Specs: Vista, dual core Intel
I am trying to repair a friends laptop that is running Vista. Every time it boots up it goes straight to safe mode. That is fine except I do not have a Vista disk and any program I try to remove the virus or trojan will not operate in safe mode. Got any ideas?

I tried both Kapersky and AVG rescue programs to no avale. The Kapersky program appeared to have the most promise based on the audible soounds coming from the CD drive. but after about 25 reboots to the CD drive using Kapersky I am still stuck in Safe Mode. I tried using an XP program disk (not an upgrade) to do a clean install of XP, but when I select install, the response is "no hard drive found". It seems as though the bios is interfering with this. There are no valid restore points in this laptop
