toshiba pagefile.sys causing slow down problem in vista sp.2

Specs: Windows Vista, 2048MB
My Toshiba satellite P205 gets rediculously slow once or twice each week. When I check the performance monitor it shows max disk activity on the pagefile.sys file. I checked the size and reset it to default, but that does not seem to make any difference. Is there any fix for this sluggish performance. Oddly enough it seems especially bad at the same time every Tuesday AM.

The disk activity on the pagefile is not the problem, but a symptom of it. Something is running at that time that is using enough memory to cause pagefile usage. A virus scan, or schedlued defragmentation, perhaps? Look to see what tasks are running when you have the problem.

Thanks for the input. I suspect that it must be the Norton scans or updates. I'll try to alter the schedules to see if it helps.
