Specs: Windows 7
Hey guys thanks for any help in advance. What happened is my mother bought a computer a few (2-3) years ago. She caught my sister on it at the wee hours of the morning so she locked it, well to make a long story short she forgot the password. And she has misplaced the back up CDs. So I was looking around online line and found a few sites that recommended puling the battery on the motherboard, so I did. Well I put the battery back in and hooked back up the power; and the lights come on but when you press the power button nothing happens. Thanks again for any help

(like Darth Vader)

Luke, Use the Owners Manual.

Usually you should see something. I suspect you moved or unseated something while in there.

You can get the mainboards manufacturer and board number, then go to the web site of the manufacturer. Lookup the model mainboard and find the docs.

You follow the clear cmos proceedure to clear the bios password. This usually consists of moving a clear cmos jumper to the live position and powering up. Then setting back to only on one pin instead of two then boot up and reconfigure the bios.
