Specs: Windows Vista
I have Windows Vista and every program I try to open, other than Internet Explorer, notepad comes up and says "This program cannot be run in DOS mode." I tried to system restore but notepad comes up with the same problem. Any ideas?

This confuses me:
"I tried to system restore but notepad comes up with the same problem". You don't use NotePad to do system restore.

Yes, Notepad is opening up for almost all programs besides Internet Explorer. In Notepad it says this program cannot be run in dos mode and has a bunch of gibberish after that, and I looked up fixing file extensions and that hasn't helped me yet. Does anyone out there know how to fix this?

Gotcha now.

Try the exefix_cu file near the bottom of this page.

It's a reg file so you double click it and OK all the prompts. You might need to reboot afterwards before it works.
