Specs: Windows Vista, 3.0gz / 2gb DDR2
So this weekend I had massive computer problems. I am pretty sure I narrowed it down to the PSU. (this info is in another post under general hardware)

Anyways, during the process I had to reformat my HDD. I have 3 HDD. One for windows/files/pictures, another for mp3's/games, and a final one for backup. I only formatted the windows HDD, but it had my pictures on it.

I reinstalled windows but couldn't get it to stay running b/c of my PSU problems. I am very concerned about losing all of my families pictures that were on the HDD.

When I get this system up and running will I be able to do a complete restore and get to one of my saved backups? Even though I completely formatted the HDD?. . . . If not, will I be able to go into the backup file (from January) and pick and choose which files I want back? Like I said I am more concerned about my pictures than anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, when I reformatted my HDD the other day. I booted with the Vista DVD to do a complete system restore but it couldn't find the backup files on the 3rd HDD. How do I get around this problem? Thx.

A link on how to restore backup files in Vista:
Should you manage to restore your photos, I suggest you burn them to dvd for safe keeping.
I don't use Windows backup, important files get burned to dvd, for image backups I use Acronis True Image

Thank-you anmor, that article is very helpful.

Now that the main drive is reformated, will I still be able to "completely" restore the drive? So that everything will be exactly like it was back in January when I last did a backup? Or will it just be bits and pieces that are the same?
