Specs: Windows Vista, pentium 2gb of ddr3?
Fell asleep with it on and charging. shut it down and on return had application error and blue screen. Got to safe mode option but it failed to open and now won't progress.

Perhaps you have a faulty ram module, unplug the unit. remove the battery....give the laptop a minute to drain residual power......find the location of the ram modules...hopefully you have 2 and you then remove one, (power back up) see if it boots...if it doesn't remove battery etc again, and switch ram sticks in the unit. and again try to power on and see if it boots. If you have only one ram module then you need to use a working computer and make a bootable cd of Memtest86 (unless your bios has a hardware diagnostic for the ram and possibly the hard drive). You burn the ISO (google memtest86). Boot to the cd on startup. If you are able to do a ram diagnostic and it passes, then I would move on to test the hard drive. If you have reason to suspect this is just corrupt startup files in Windows Vista, then you could try booting off a Vista disk and doing the startup repair.

Do you always get 3 beeps when powering it on? Can you give us the make/model of the laptop please.....the more info the better. Was it fine prior to the "sleep" or had you been experiencing issues???
