SMART failure Issue

July 10, 2011 at 23:47:06
Specs: Windows Vista home Premium, 2GB
SMART Failure detected on Hitachi hard drive.
Warning! back up yor data and replace the Hard Drive
Press F1 to continue.

As SMART failure doesn't necessarily means that Hard Disk is dead and need immediate replacement, so I am looking for workaround for this issue.
1) What to do if pressing F1 doesn't load ur OS and keep processing long enough. My be, it loads OS but does nothing after start screen comes.
2)What can be done apert from replacing the hard drive.

SMART failure means that your hard disk is almost certainly going to die anytime now. Replacing the hard drive is the only sensible option. If you value any data on it you will back it up immediately.

Hard disks are cheap nowadays; what is your data worth to you?

"As SMART failure doesn't necessarily means that Hard Disk is dead and need immediate replacement"

Not sure where you got that misinformation from but it is wrong.

Your drive is about to die. Backup the data asap.
