Screen view is not right

Specs: Windows Vista
Why does everything on my screen look as though it's been squashed down. Instead of a circle I get an oval, why?

Most likely you need to change your screen resolution. Click HERE for a tutorial on how to do that.

Thanks but I've already tried that and it doesn't seem to change things,

Did you try a variety of screen resolutions to see which one works the best? Also, was the picture always squashed down or is this a recent problem? Finally, what is the highest screen resolution you have available to choose from?

Hi, I've just tried every screen resolution and the lower the resolution the larger the icons became. My PC has always been set at 1280 x 1024 which is the next but one to the highest which is 1600 x 1200. If I put it on the highest the icons go very small.
Whether the icons are small or large they still appear 'squashed' as though it's in widescreen when it shouldn't be. This has only happened recently (the grandchildren have been on it!).

Did you try the settings on your monitor? The monitor should have buttons on it where you can adjust various settings. Maybe widescreen got turned on somehow.
