"I have to turn CPU on/off several times to finally get it to work "

The term CPU is frequently mis-used.
The computer case that has the computer components inside of it is NOT a CPU !

This is a CPU
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cpu
........

If this computer is a laptop or netbook, or if it's one of the few desktop computers with a buillt in display, there is probably something physically wrong with the built in display, most likely the backlight is failing, hence the pink tint.

If you connect a monitor to the video port on the computer, in most cases, the video display will be fine on that.

Some computers with a built in display will produce video on the external monitor without you having to do anything. Other computers require that you press a key combo to toggle the display to the external monitor or the built in display - see your Owner's or User's manual
.......

If this is a desktop computer that does not have a built in display, try a different monitor, or try the monitor with a different computer.
