Hi Bobby.
You only need to run SFC if you are having a problem.

Are you having any problems?

No one thing I'm afraid.

There is sfc /scannow (from Command Prompt) that checks your files.

There are Service Settings lists for various operating systems - here's Vista SP2:

..and various others bits and bobs, depending on your needs, by searching Google.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

It's easy, you just run it and if it finds any corrupt or wrong version files it replaces them if possible from its own backups. In the unlikely event that it can't do so it lets you know. Of-course it might not find anything wrong.

EDIT:
Not "quite" what you asked but you can check the hard disk too:

You can always check in device manager to see if any hardware problems show there.

Do you have a reason to think there is something missing from your computer? Is it misbehaving in any way? Or is there something you'd like to do with it, as in install some new "hardware" (component/device), or new software to do something new?

(component/hardware means an extra hard drive or cd/dvd unit in this case)

There is easy to run software that will scan the entire system and provide a very detailed report as to what's actually there; both software and hardware. It doesn' ttell you what is "supposed or ought to be there", only what it finds when it performs its scan. In effect it audits the sytsem fully.

Pass details of the site to others; and also to do a kindness to/for others. Helping others in ways in which you can is the best form of recompense for help from others?

When the hand is open (palm uppermost/upwards) it can both give and receive and thus share. When the palm is face down, the hand can only grasp and then hold onto what it has for fear of losing that; and thus cannot share, and receive anew...

Simples...
