Restore Program shortcuts to Vista start menu

July 17, 2010 at 08:22:21
Specs: Windows Vista, 4 gb

All my installed programs have disappeared from the All Programs section of my Start Menu.

Also, when I do a search I cannot find them. I can only use them if I go directly to C:\Program Files (x86)\

Any idea of what is going on? How do I restore them?

Argentus, Try this:

Click Start>Run then copy & paste or type in:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Click OK

Restart your computer.

If the Run isn't in your Start Menu see the link below.

Where is RUN in Windows Vista?

Edited to add: You could also try a System Restore to the closest date prior to the start of your problem.

Thanks. I tried but with no luck

This happened after I installed Vista Ultimate in a partition to acces a dynamic disk.

Then I deleted the partition but the programs are gone.
