Restarted my computer and now all files gone!

June 13, 2011 at 20:13:15
Specs: Windows Vista
I shut down my computer, and when i restarted it, all my files, programs everything are gone, its just like it was when i bought it, with the original screen saver and everything. The drive is still full, so i know that my files are somewhere on here. I tried the "unhide folders" suggestion, but it did not work. Any helpful suggestions? Thank you so much! also...laptop seems to have downloaded google chrome upon restarting... i find that odd.

'I shut down my computer, and when i restarted it, all my files, programs everything are gone'

Sorry to say, things like that just don't happen out of the blue. Either you or someone else did a complete restoration back to factory settings using the hidden partition.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

That isn't the only possible path that results in seeing original setup.

Could just be a matter of a new profile.

To check, logon as administrator and then browse to [boot drive letter]:\users and list what folders you see here.
