How are you trying to install the game? Off a cd or a download executable off the hard drive?

If your trying to install it from your hard drive directly, you need to mount the game and its files. There is a program called PowerISO that can take care of that for you.

Have you tried unwilling and reinstalling again from scratch. Installing should not delete your setting and any saved items, they should remain intact.

FS X is a two disc instillation set and has to be installed on a hard and registered on-line before it will work so it will not run from an ISO.

I am using original FSX CDs, repair/installation process starts and terminates with previously mentioned errors that refer to windows installer problem. I tried all remedies suggested from Microsoft sites and nothing helps. It looks like that a major part of installer package is corrupted and I am looking for answers as how to fix it? I cannot re install operating system wthout reverting back to XP that my machine was originally shipped with and consequently upgraded to Windows Vista by download from Microsoft.

I tried that already, and since I have a latest version already installed it didn't work. What I found though is that I am missing 'service.msc' which may caused all the trouble I am experiencing. It is not only FSX that I cannot install, I also cannot install regular Windows updates.

Have you tried sfc /scannow from the run box?

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
