I keep getting an error message that says the dell dock was unable to load and I need to reinstall it.
This is a Dell feature - most likely pre-installed. If you really want it maybe there is a download on the Dell website if you quote your computer make and model number. In which case Uninstall/Reinstall will probably fix it. Seems it does little more than can be done by simple shortcuts in folders on the desktop - it also uses resources. Maybe you should try to uninstall it or disable it. Look in "Control Panel > Programs and features", or maybe in services (type services in Search) or in msconfig startup.
EDIT:

It may be something you previously removed either intentionally or unintentionally but another application is expecting it to still be there thus bringing up that message.
Thank you so much for all of the replies! I found all three informative since I have little knowledge of the inner workings of computers. Your time and consideration is truly appreciated.:) Sincerely,
Jeannie
You're welcome. Let us know if you need further help.
As an FYI Dell Dock is actually a third party application created by Stardock for Dell. http://www.stardock.com/products/de...
