Inserting a memory card should not cause any disruption to your internet connection, so I think it was just a coincidence & something else has caused it.

Try deleting the saved wireless network on your tablet, then set it up the wireless connection again.

Could you have zapped the port with static when you put the card in?

About losing your photos--It doesn't seem like that would happen but you could copy them to a different folder so even if the originals are deleted you'd still have the copies.

Windows makes it complicated to copy stuff. I usually do it from command prompt using dos commands. But I think you click on the file or folder you want copied and then go to the toolbar and click the 'edit' tab and then go down to 'copy'. A box opens and you can select where you want it copied. That's with XP anyway. Vista is probably the same. Make sure your photos have been copied before you fiddle with the internet setup.

You might try formatting the card or copying something to it to see if it's good. If you can't do that then the card or port may be damaged. If it's the port it may have caused other internal damage. Hopefully it's OK though.

I'm up late. I think you're on the opposite side of the planet.
