program mouse button

Specs: Windows Vista
how can i program a mouse button to run a batch file that i have on a desk top? i know that i can program one of the custom short cut buttons on the keybaord to run it. but the mouse only can be programed to one of the "f" buttons? The "f" button can only be programed by using it with the "fn" button?
Right? the mouse doesnt reconize the "fn" button? Help

If you have to click the mouse button to perform a function, surely it's just as easy to click on a shortcut to the batchfile on the desktop or taskbar.
