When contemplating a PC game install, it is always best to ensure that the recommended requirements are met or the minimum at the very least. FYI, the requirements for AOC is below:

OS: Windows Vista/XP
Processor: 3GHz Pentium IV
Video Card: Shader Model 2.0 & 128MB RAM: NVIDIA GeForce 5800 or ATI 9800

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz (E6600) or better
Vdeo Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7950GX2 or better
RAM: 2GB or more

If indeed you do not have any service packs installed for Windows Vista, I suggest you address that situation first by installing both SP1 & SP2 at your earliest convenience. Just so you know, you would need to install SP1 before installing SP2.

Lastly, you need a graphics card to play AOC. Are you absolutely positive you do not have one in the machine?

yeah i know there is no vid card, but i thought it at least should play, even if choppy. As for the service packs, sp 1 wont install, no matter how many times i try, keep getting errors.

you do have a graphics card, most likely a built in one, witch would be so crap it probably wouldn't even load the game

You should log on to Vista with Administrator Account and then try to install SP1 and then SP2. In most cases, permissions are the sole cause of Service Pack installation failures provided that your Vista is original.
