problem with system recovery disc running on

October 26, 2010 at 09:40:29
Specs: Windows Vista
I have a HP pavilion entertainment PC. I got the computer from my dad when my old one bit the dust. He had the computer for a few years. When he had the computer it started with windows vista, my brother removed the application and put on windows 7. And at some point it got a very malicious Trojan on it in which I quarantined several times and at one point i deleted one of the quarantined files and have been having issues ever since. My computer has problems connecting to my wireless modem, now it is to the point I can usually get it connected to the modem but my computer won't allow me on the internet. I messed around with it and tried to take it to a previous date, it would not allow me to go back further than three days. I decide enough was enough, so I was going to run the recovery disc, problem was my computer came with none, I found the directions on how to run it off the computers hard drive, low and behold the files I needed were not there. I called hp got a recovery disc, and now my computer wont run it. I put the disc in and when it opens all it does is show me the files on the disc. I have absolutely no clue how to fix this problem, I don't know a lot about computers.

... place the recovery disc in the tray and restart the pc

... tap the <F12> <key> as it reboots select cd/dvd as boot option [press enter]

... it should boot off/from the cd/dvd and load the recovery.

I put the disk in with the computer on and restarted the computer. After the computer ran the disk it keeps on rebooting and it won't stop, it has been doing it for almost 3 hours now. Is there something wrong or is this normal.

... are you saying that the disk ran the recovery? ... I think you'd know if it did.

... or is it rebooting as it would(?) without the disk inserted?

... also try "turn on" the pc and " hold-in" <F11> <key> anything?

ran the disk recovery then it just continued to reboot constantly for hours after wards, rerunning the recovery to see if it solves problem.
