Specs: Windows Vista
when i start in normal mode after 30 seconds or so it shuts down and then restarts, but in safe mode it starts up and runs fine, if i update or run malware scan in normal mode a window pops up for 3 or 4 seconds and says a program is trying to shut down if i can get to the cancel spot quick enough i can stop it, but cant find that program that keeps shutting it down.

Hey guys ! , thanks for the help, I really appreciate it, I did try malwarebytes, it didn't quite do the trick , so i used avast, they have a 30 day free trial of their premier service, I kinda thought it was a virus because I had a hard time to download it, couldn't stop it, couldn't uninstall it either, so I forced a shut down, when I went back to avast to download again thats when I saw the 30 day free trial for the premier service, so after reading all it can do I started downloading, got it to download so I started scanning, while it was scanning I was checking suspicious places, so when the deepest possible scan ended and it said nothing found, no way, there was 1 program that questionable , so I scanned it with avast, then the screen turned almost white,& it froze (oh crap), I forced a shut down, restarted scanned it again, my laptop was trying to shut I kept hitting the cancel button, then the screen went black (oh s---) I'm thinking I'm done then the spinning circle came in in the middle screen lights up its the avast window 1 high threat item found, so I trashed that item went through comp to make shure it was gone. It is gone history c-yah, 2 days now my laptop has been working as good as new, for 2 months I have been fighting that sucker, I am such a happy camper. PROBLEM SOLVED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What malware software are you using? You might try malwarebytes:

http://www.filehippo.com/download_m...

(Download link in the upper right column) and run a full scan in safe mode.
