Preinst., reinstall w gen OEM disc?

Specs: Windows XP Home SP2, P4 Prescott 2.4 GHz, 768 MB DDR333
Hello,

I'm buying a new laptop soon that apparently doesn't come with a recovery disc. Given that it comes preinstalled with Windows Vista (Home Premium), I would like to know the following:

I am aware that you can't mix OEM, volume and retail licenses and discs. However, is it possible to install Vista from a generic OEM disc (the ones intended for PC builders) using a vendor OEM product key?

Thank you,

I don't know what a generic OEM is but even if that works, what about the drivers? If you can't get them, don't buy the laptop.

Simply put, the fact of the matter is that for Dell & Toshiba brands you do get the DVD. For all other brands you will be given the opportunity to create your own DVD.
