no option to boot from CD

July 7, 2010 at 18:24:34
Specs: Windows Vista
I used a password recovery disk to try and get into our sony vaio laptop. I Downloaded the "Any Windows Password Recovery.iso."
2. I Burned the Any Windows Password Recovery.iso image file to CD/DVD.
3. But when it came to changing the computer's BIOS to make it boot from the CD, there was no option to boot from a CD. I tried all the options that were there (one at a time)
4. Inserted newly created CD in the CD drive and it did not recognize the disk to reboot the computer.

Some computers have the option to press a key during BIOS enumeration such as F1, F8, etc. to choose the boot device.

For example, if I press F8 key on my Asus M/B computer, I get to the screen where I am asked to choose the boot device, whereas F8 key is normally supposed to present the Windows boot options, such as Safe Mode, Command Prompt, etc..

In some Acer notebooks, a BIOS option should be enabled first before you can use that option, such as disk-to-disk recovery or D2D Recovery, etc.

Therefore, I suggest you to look into the Sony Vaio manual or Sony support forums on the web.
