Hi everyone. can anyone help me please. I have replaced my HDD on my hp laptop dv6000 due to corrupted hard drive on my old one. My problem is that when I boot my laptop, the recovery disc I created when I bought the laptop seems not recognised. I have changed my bios booting priorities to usb hard drive (as I'm using an external CD/DVD drive because the built-in drive is not working) but still couldn't read my recovery disc.

Can anyone help me please what to do? I am quite illiterate with computers. And any help will be very much appreciated.

My new HDD installed is working fine. I did a scan in bios and it passed.

many thanks!

The BIOS has to have support for Booting from Optical Drive, if it does not you can not boot from the Optical Drive...

Go into your BIOS System Configuration Menu and set the Boot Options as follows:

CD-ROM boot—Enable/disable boot from CD-ROM - Set this to enable

Boot Order—Set the boot order for:
ATAPI CD/DVD ROM Drive followed by Hard drive or by USB Hard drive (if your hard drive is still not working).

Save and exit to reboot.
Hopefully your system will now boot of the CD and then you can do what you were trying to do.

When everything else fails, read the instructions.
