need the command interpreter name

Specs: Windows XP
acer computer command interpreter name. The computer is asking for it. It is an acer computer with windows vista. My acer laptop will not load all of the way and I have reinstaled windows and have ran scans on it and it is asking for the command interpreter name and the computer will still not turn on. I dont know what the command interpreter name is.

That is not your trouble/

It should never ask that. I'd guess the system is trying to boot to some recovery environment or the install went very bad.

In the old days the name was command.com but I doubt Vista would use that.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

I have removed all cds from the tray. the problem started when I restarted my computer and now it wont load all of the way. The acer logo comes up and then the screen goes black and stays that way.

im using vista

All I know is that is what it is asking for and I paid the acer people $100 to fix it and they did a buch of stuff and it still doesnt work and they told me there was nothing they could do after they garunteed me they could fix it
