My Microsoft Word Won't Open

Microsoft Word 2007
May 17, 2010 at 12:06:36
Specs: Windows Vista
My microsoft word will not open itself or other word documents. Does anyone know how to fix this?
And if it's due to a corrupt add-in, how do I get rid of it?

Go into Add/Remove programs and select Office or Word. You should have the choice of repair. If not uninstall and then reinstall AFTER you have run chkdsk /f on the drive and defragged the drive. You do this last two steps first to make sure what you are installing to [hard drive/file system] is in good shape

okay i'll try that. I was told to try locating and removing the "normal.dot" and that should fix my problem...although i have been having problems locating it.

That would be if you suspected normal.dot was corrupt. Usually Word when starting up would tell you that.
Even so before removing the file you should run chkdsk /f to make sure its not the file system vs the file being corrupt.
