Wow, I think you get the award for the longest run-on sentence.

Ok, when did the DVD stop working? Was it when you installed the new drive? How is the new drive connected, IDE, SATA?

PS. No one is going to contact you at your email address. Thsi is a public forum and we put the answers here so it can help others with the same problems. You may want to remove your email address before you get spammed to death.

Next time break your sentence up a bit which will make it easier to read and therefore get more resonses.

OK BUT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT MATTERS IF IT IS IDE OR SATA??
DOES IT MATTER ?? I AM CONFUSED ?
HONESTLY I AM QUITE NEW TO ALL THIS STUFF IT IS VERY CONFUSING I THINK IT IS SATA?
IT HAS SMALL WIRE LEADS NOT THE BIG FLAT WIRE HARNESS ONES WITH OUT RIPPING IT APART OR CHECKING SYSTEM INFO I CANT SAY IF IT DOES MATTER I WILL FIND OUT LET ME KNOW

OH SORRY ABOUT THE RUN ON SENTENCE I AM NOT TOO GOOD AT ENGLISH ,SPELLING,GRAMMAR ,ECT ECT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION YES MY TROUBLE BEGAN AFTER MY 1 GB OF RAM WENT BAD I REMOVED IT CLEANED UP THE SYSTEM PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER I PLUGGED IN MY SLAVE HARD DRIVE THAT I HAD USED IN THE PAST WITH NO TROUBLE PRIOR TO THIS

BUT WHEN I GOT EVERYTHING UP AND RUNNING I STARTED GETTING THE MESSAGES THAT MY SLAVE DVD DISK DRIVE SAYS THERE IS NO DISK

WHEN IT IS MY VISTA OS DISK BUT THE DISK USED TO WORK AND NOW STILL WORKS IN MY LAP TOP AND ALSO NOW THE SLAVE HARD DRIVE I PLUGGED BACK IN DOES NOT SHOW UP IN MY COMPUTER BUT IT DOES SHOW UP IN DEVICE MANAGER AND SAYS EVERYTHING IS FINE DRIVERS ECT. ECT. ALL IS FINE SO I AM LOST NOW AGAIN ???
P.S.
WELL THATS ABOUT IT I DO APPRECIATE ANY HELP I CAN GET AND I WANT TO APOLIGISE AHEAD OF TIME I DID NOT REALIZE THIS WAS IN ALL CAPITOL LETTERS UNTIL I WAS ALMOST DONE TYPING IT AND IT TOOK WAY TOO LONG TO DO THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE I WAS NOT DOING IT ALL OVER SO SORRY SORRY SORRY LOL LOL LOL I HOPE THIS IS BETTER

While you are waiting for further advice look here:

Scroll down to the last post (by Linda Yan). It is for Win 7 but I think Vista is much the same.

If that doesn't help then (as a long shot) power off and make sure the plug and socket edge connectors are clean, particularly the data connection. Assuming it is SATA, use a small piece of pencil eraser for this. Pop the plugs in and out a few times to clear any remaining oxide then press them firmly home. I suppose you might care to do the same with the RAM sticks too as this seemed to start the issue.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
