Solved Move IE9 favorites star to the left

I like my favorites being over on the left side of the screen. I see where IE 9 puts the favorites on the right. If you enable the favorites bar, does that put the star you click on for favorites to the left? I have been delaying an upgrade to IE 9 or 10 because I like the favorites on the left and not the right. Thanks.

P.S. I know about pinning the favorites but I don't want to look at them all the time. I just want to be able to click on the star on the left if possible.

You can't move the star icon to the left side, but you can enable the classic menu bar so that the Favorites menu item will be on the left.

Right-click above the address bar, then left-click "Menu Bar" from the context menu.

phil22,

Thanks! How about if you enable the Favorites bar? Does it have a place to click on favorites or does it just have an "add favorites" button?

The favorites bar gives a series of buttons to what I call your "favourite favorites".

When you Save to Favorites, you get an option to either save them in the list or as buttons on the favorites bar.

Just try adding it then you will see for yourself - if you don't like it then uncheck it and it will be gone.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

IMO, the favorites bar is just a waste of space. Better to enable the menu bar, at least it's useful, plus it will allow you to click on Favorites near the left end of the toolbar.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I happen to like the Favorites bar. Single click to the places I go to mostly is quite useful. The drop-down Favorites list tends to get cluttered unless you constantly prune it.

I have a follow up question; does the favorites bar have a place to click on all favorites? Can anyone recommend a good site where I can see some close up screen shots? Thanks.

The favorites bar is a series of buttons, each going to a selected website. It doesn't go to normal favorites which are elsewhere on the top bar and produce a drop down. It is shown here:

The best way to see what it is all above is to invoke it and try saving one of your most favourite places to it. You don't have to keep it if you don't want it - just uncheck it again and you will be back as you were. The selection is by right click near the top of the screen.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
