Is this a laptop or desktop?

Try to select bios, usually F2 key or Delete key or other at boot. There is usually a screen about pc health or such. It would show temps and voltages. Might need a new power supply.

Could be almost any reason too. If you can't get the CD to boot it suggests hardware. Memory might be bad too.

We never had a reply from the OP as to what type of system this is. The repair varies depending on this. For a laptop I would consider having excessive dust build-up in the cooling system and having rapid overheat and shutdown.

Laptops also do not generally have temps showing in BIOS and many have no or limited power management settings.
