Microsoft Word Problem

Microsoft Word 2007 home and student
July 5, 2010 at 07:50:01
Specs: Windows Vista
I'm having a problem printing my documents. When I look at the document in the normal view, it's fine, but when I go to printer preview, it only shows the words in a 3.5 x 5 area on the page. Everything else is blank, even though there should be words there. I looked at the margins and they are still set to normal (1" all around). There are other computers connected to the same printer, and they print fine. I'm just not sure how to fix it.

Do the margins keep changing back to wider margins than you want? If that is the case you could force the registry.

yes, I think so. They're 1" all around in the normal view, but then they change to 5.14" & 2.38".

Don't know about the forcing registry bit, but it sounds like you
have your printer set to the wrong size paper. When you click
on print (not quick print), select 'properties, just to the right of the
printer name, and see what you have set for the default page
size - it should be A4, letter or similar.

I found what you were talking about. The problem now is A4, letter, or 8.5" x 11" isn't listed in the available print sizes. The printer is an HP Photosmart Series. The available print sizes are all for photo sizes. Is there any way I can add a letter size to that list?
