microsoft outlook deletes emails automaticall

Specs: Windows vista, 2 gb
as soon as I close an email after reading it, it disappears completely - not in deleted items folder - not in junk or spam folders - nowhere to be found.

Are you referring to Microsoft Outlook or to Outlook Express? If MS Outlook what version?

right mouse click on the inbox and go to properties. Review your autoarchive settings.

I am actually using Microsoft Windows Mail on Vista 32 bit OS on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. I have some 20,000 emails in my inbox. Is that the pronlem?

that certainly is a huge amount of emails. my understanding is there is no limit in email now except the storage limit of your drive.

How much free space do you have on your drive?

Did you check your autoarchive settings? Any reason you can't delete a bunch of old emails?
