I have lost the back button on My Vista computer. Why have I lost the Back Button?

What back button are you talking about? If you meant the back & forward button icons on IE7 or IE8, try system restore back to the time you know was working.

Do you mean in standard explorer view?

Make sure that you haven't simply unchecked the toolbar in your view options.

- Go to view
- Go to toolbars
- Make sure all options are selected.

If nothing else works, you coul try using System Restore as mentioned above. A bit drastic for a simple back button though! Hope you sort it out

Mine disappeared last week after a update and reappeared today after a update.

probably work of some infection, like virus or something.

i suggest you to reinstall that particular software.

like if it was IE7:

go to download page of IE7 from MS's website.
in case if that isn't available there you can try at other websites. search using

google.com

yah for additional older versions of software you can look on at:

oldversion.com

i hope it helps.

yeah, obviously scan for viruses too and delete all the files that could not be repaired.
