I have been plagued with a problem of memory loss after removing program. I have tried using a few programs to that are suppose to clean up my system but still seem to lose space. I have also tried exploring through my Harddrive to locate any left over files that may not be showing and still nothing. Disk defrag and cleaning does not help either. I am running vista home prem. 32bit. did a full reinstall of factory setting and no help. Scanned for virus spyware ect. nothing shows and all definitions are up-to-date. Sent unit back to company (hp) they replaced the hard drive once. I've ran into this problem a few times on an older system with xp but the methods I used then will not work on vista. My system is a compaq presario laptop with 250gb 3gb vm vista home prem x86 amd athlon x2 64 Any solutions?
Yes. for instant I can have say 178gb before uninstalling a program and after end up with 172gb for example. This does not happen with just a certain program although seems to be most commonly happening with uninstalling games (components saved games files ect.) My conventional methods of removing all associated files to apps/programs fails on Windows vista.
