Solved Is BBC internet access biased?

July 21, 2015 at 10:36:05
Specs: Windows Vista
I live in Brazil and have had the same kind of problems as Mike in Spain has, but with a twist. I was working with some British friends when this problem started and one of them even has a Brazilian notebook and they did not have any problem. Now I still live in Brazil but 2500 kilometers away have used 3 different ISP's since then and I still cannot access BBC.com or BBC Worls News.
That's a shame.
Can anybody help me?

Never mind Derek, it's back on. It may have been that I ran Tweaking.com Window Repair as somebody else in the forum mentioned. It did not find anything wrong with my laptop, it cleared registers, all kinds of memories and so on (it took hours and many restarts). After all that ordeal I tried to access with no luck (error server message) but now I just tried again to respond to your inquire and it's working, so I don't know what happened. Thanks anyway.

Who on earth is "Mike in Spain" - you give no link?
Best just provide the info for your own problem.

It sounds as if the BBC is blocked. There could be all manner of reasons, including something political. What exactly happens on the screen when you try to access the BBC? Is it the same on any browser?

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Some BBC services are not available outside the UK and Europe.

I think this is the 'Mike in Spain' thread:

http://www.computing.net/answers/wi...

If it is an IP address thing try running CCcleaner. MSN defaults to a homepage based based on the person's IP address. Sometimes difficulties in changing that were cured by running CCcleaner. It might work if BBC sites do the same thing.

Oh yes, of course, that post on March 29, 2011. I remember it well - there was something similar towards the end of 1999 too.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
