Specs: Windows Vista
iomega sphdu 500 gb usb portable HD
The drive shows up as D: but when I click on it from Explorer I get this message:

"D:\ is not accessible.
The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

The HD works fine in XP. Solutions?

Back up all the data to the XP machine then format the Iomega,
see if it's recognised by the Vista machine, format it again using
Vista and if all ok then put the data back on it.

By the way, has the Vista machine had SP1 installed? - one of
the 'improvements' was the way that it handled large drives.

The vista machine has SP 1 and now SP2. It still doesn't recognize the HD. I don't have enough disk space to backup the entire HD. I may just install Win7 and see if that helps. What ever happened to plug and play - ha ha.
