I have a virus that is a (FBI LOCK OUT)

Specs: Windows Vista
I was told that if I use my (Operating System Disc) labled "Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic" Operating System Disc, it not only remove the :Ransom" virus from my copurter, but would solve all registry errors as well. Reading the comments on this page has me so confused. I don't know if I have the right disc or not. I bought the computer new from Wal Mart two years ago and the disc labled("operating system disc") came with it. It has a bar code on the sleeve the disc came in as well as a 7-digit number which I'm assuming is the number code I'll need to use the disc. Is this the proper disc I'm going to need, or are there two disc like some of the comments talk about? I just want to fix my computer and as of right now I can only use it in safe mode. You cannot really repair it using a reinstallation disk unless you just want to reinstall Windows from scratch.

First thing to try is to start the computer in 'safe mode with networking' (keep tapping the F8 key at boot to get into the safe mode menu). If the computer starts without the warning then download, install & run Malwarebytes to remove the nasty and then remove the start-up link to it by using the tools/startup section of CCleaner.

If the warning still appears in safe mode then it's a bit more difficult to remove but try the easier option first and post back if you need further help.

I dealt with this issue a couple of weeks ago. Create a Anvi Rescue CD on a different PC, then boot off it on the infected PC.
