If you didn't already hit > Save As < it is gone.

If the file has been "Save As" then the Save button clicked after adding more info, do a search, using any unusual keyword you used when making the file.

✔ Best Answer
If you hit the SAVE button, a box would have popped up showing you the folder the file would be saved in & the name of the file. If you had named it previously, the box would NOT have popped up. Also, if you had not named it previously & tried to close, a box would have popped up asking you if you wanted to save it. In other words, there should have been plenty of warnings preventing you from losing your work. Did you look in Libraries > Documents?

Do a search for Book1.xls or *.xls

Hi, thanks for your reply, yes I did use "save as" when I started the document, then intermittently "save" as I worked on it. This is the first time it has happened to me (the last 2 documents I had been working on) did not come up in the usual search options.
It was only when I gave all hope after 2 hours of trying to find the first one that I started again & when I was in the"save as" box I saw it sitting there, but it took me some time before I could actually retrieve it even though I had saved it as an excel workbook just like usual.
Thanks
Kaye

I have done the same proceedure so many times, I thought it has to be here somewhere, so finally it was. The only thing I did different was to highlight the whole working document for printing but decided not to print, so I didn't go the next step "page layout" "set print area" it just stayed highlighed I hit "save" then closed it. I immediately tried to open it & couldn't find it.
Thanks
Kaye

All my documents are right there in the usual search now , it's seems the last two excel documents got suck in limbo somewhere in between. That caused a panic for sure.
Thanks for all your help.
Kaye.
