I can copy both files and folders to elsewhere on the hard drive. I have reformatted the USB stick in both NTFS and Fat 32 in both cases I can copy files from the hard drive but as soon as I try to copy a folder explorer crashes. I did once get a message saying there was a run time error with C++. I have also tried a different memory stick but it has the same problem.

A little bit more information. In Device Manager I deleted all the USB entries and then rebooted, the USB drivers were of course reloaded but the problem remains the same. I can drag and drop a large group of files to the USB stick without problems but as soon as I try and copy a folder Explorer crashes. The fist error message I get is
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error! - Program: (blank) This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information"
I have screen shots of the messages but don't know how to upload them to this forum.
Would it do any good to try and reload the C++ Library and if so how do I do it?
Regards,

Okay, I have reinstalled C++ Run Time Library and now don't get the 'Run Time Error' message, but Explorer still crashes.
I have run virus scans using Windows Defender and Spybot Search and Destroy, and used RegScrubVistaXp and CCleaner to fix registry errors but I still cannot copy a 'Folder' to a USB stick.

Just a bit more info to confuse the issue - I can copy a complete 'Folder' from the USB drive to the Hard Drive without problems.
