Specs: Windows Vista, T3200
I have tried everything. The system will not boot up at all. I've tried f-8 and depressing the zero key at start up to find the recover to factory settings. We do not have the restore disk....is there something else I can do...

If you tried all of that then the last thing your left with is purchasing a new operating system. You can do that from websites like newegg.com and amazon.com.. when you search the websites, make sure you get the OEM product, for operating systems its only about $112

However, I would like to make one recommendation.. Windows Vista is a very unstable operating system, and has many issues as a whole. Look on Toshiba's website and see if your laptop is compatible with Windows 7; if it is, I recommend that over Vista. They will be the same price anyway.

I don't want to spend any money on this for an operating system when I don't know if that is the problem. I think I would rather get a restore cd from Toshiba first, but I thought I might be able to restore it without one. I wonder also if the harddrive has failed. The error message reads that something has caused an error and windows cannot start due to something being unplugged or a defective drive.
