I cannot get my canon mf1450 to scan

Specs: Windows Vista
My Canon mf1450 has always printed well on my Windows Vista 32 bit laptop. But I have never been able to get it to scan. I just re-loaded the driver from the internet, but it still will not scan. Is there a trick to scanning I don't know about, maybe?

Do you mean this? http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/suppo...

The trick is usually one of the hardest tasks known to mankind. You have to read and follow exactly the owners manual.

For the most part you should have a cd or two and some way to read the manual when you bought it. The cd may have a number of things included. One may be the print drivers and other things can range from scan drivers to scanner software.

I suggest you start all over with the owners manual and try to follow the install procedure.

Saying all that it might fail and make you mad at me (if you aren't already). If it fails after you follow the instructions then we might assume the problem is with the scanner part.

I'd then try a live cd maybe to test or try the MF on a different system to be sure.

Does it copy locally?

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

... you could try the suggestion in this thread #3

... first make sure that the scanner is not locked in anyway there may be a" locking switch" to prevent damage during transportation.

... there is logic to this madness!
