Specs: Windows Vista
When I save a page from a website (I believe all of the pages in question are .html) and try to open it I get the code instead of proper display. What's up?

Thank you very much but I'm operating on someone else's computer so I don't feel free to install anything. I need an answer which uses what's already on the system.

WhiteBird, You're not installing anything with that fix. It is just a registry fix for the html files which should open with Internet Explorer by default. Check in Folder Optioins>File types and see what it now shows for opening html files..

I extracted the appropriate files from the .zip file I got from the link. I tried to open the file and was warned that my machine could not import all of the file to the registry. I don't want to import anything directly to the registry. I want to do this manually if at all. Thanks very much, but unless somehow there's something I'm not getting about this I'd prefer to try another approach.

Right click one of the files with the problem (probably htm but maybe html). Select "Open With". If Internet Explorer is showing then click that, ensuring that the box is ticked which says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file".

If Internet Explorer is not showing in the list, use the Browse button to go through Program Files > Internet Explorer > iexplore.exe (you select this exe file). Depending on your settings it might just show "iexplore", which is fine.

Well, you could try it. Otherwise I think you are out of luck because of your required restrictions.
