HP laptop touchpad problem

Hewlett-packard Pavilion dv6000 notebook...
February 23, 2010 at 10:22:15
Specs: Windows Vista
My laptop sometimes goes to sleep mode but on clicking it again through the touchpad, the cursor is missing and I have to shut down and switch on again. Then, the start up isn't automatic (sceen black) and I may have to press the power button down and click it on again until I get it to respond to switch on and the monitor lights up.
Is there a button I can press on the keyboard to get the curson on and/or another to get the screen on if it hasn't done so.

There may be a button above your keyboard for turning the
touchpad on and off. If this doesn't work, go to HP's website and
lookup your mdel. Download the latest touchpad drivers. Go to
Windows Update and install all of the updates, often times these
bugs are fixed in Windows Updates. Make sure you have at least
Vista SP2.
